INTERACTIVE URBAN FURNITURE
Interactive Urban Furniture is a prototype that responds to a variety of human needs. Due to its adaptive nature, this multi-purpose fixture has numerous functional and aesthetic uses. On a sunny day, it is perfectly suited as an outdoor bench. When the weather turns inclement, a built-in, weather-activated sensor activates an internal motor when humidity rises above 90 percent and transforms the bench into a rain shelter. When not in use in a practical manner, the wave-like form of Interactive Urban Furniture easily lends itself to being appreciated as an outdoor sculpture.
Exhibited in Oakland/San Francisco 2008.
