The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission has set up its first international office in China.
It's a move the commission hopes will cut the amount of faulty products reaching the U.S. market.
According to the commission, 45 percent of all consumer products and 90 percent of toys sold in the United States are made in China and Hong Kong. And just more than half of all products recalled in the U.S. originate from China.
The office will be located in the U.S. Embassy in Beijing, and will have just two staff to start with.
