Tamara Drewe star Gemma Arterton said she was "thrilled and honoured" at being shortlisted for this year's Bafta Rising Star award.

The Bond girl has been named along with four other actors.

Arterton goes up against the new Spider-Man Andrew Garfield, whose performance in The Social Network earned him a Golden Globe nomination.

Inception actor Tom Hardy, Aaron Johnson who starred in Kick Ass and Emma Stone, who is also in the upcoming Spider-Man, also made the list.

Tom Hardy, who is is due to appear in a remake of cold war thriller Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, said: "I am so grateful to be doing what I love for a living, that is more than enough for me, so it's really kind of you to go out of your way to vote for me at all for any award."

The winner will be announced at the Baftas on February 13.

Previous winners include James McAvoy, Shia LaBeouf, Noel Clarke and Kristen Stewart.
