Thousands of lights, a 12-foot Ferris wheel, a carousel, and a life-sized Nativity scene are part of a massive Christmas display at a home in New York City.

The extravagantly-decorated home is a Christmas tradition in the Canarsie neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Each year for the past several decades, the residents in the area enjoy the spirit of the season as they stand in awe in front of the home.

Neighborhood resident, Doris Johnson said she has been coming to see the home for about the past 20 years.

"I come every year. It's worth it. It gives you a good feeling. Look at this! How could you not love Christmas! It doesn't even have to be about Christmas, just loving life, and you just look, and it makes you smile."

During the Christmas season, children and families excitedly admire the details of the display which pays homage to the holy and the quirky. Included in the display are a life-like nativity scene and colorful Christmas elves working inside Santa's workshop.
