Minh Tran is lonely immigrant taxi driver from Laos who works the late shift ferrying passengers across Sydney. One night, Minh's path crosses that of Isabella Fortino, an attractive young girl whose boyfriend, Nick, has talked her into prostitution in order to cover a large gambling debt owed to a local gangster. Isabella becomes Minh's passenger after completing a job servicing a perverted drug dealer. Isabella hires Minh to drive her to the second job, a debaucherous bucks party. Isabella emerges bruised and battered quickly finding refuge in his taxi. His show of kindness toward her leads to an unlikely connection. She hires Minh to take her somewhere peaceful, and their journey begins. Through the course of a few hours, they become temporary soul mates. As Minh observes Isabella's suffering, he discovers empathy and realizes how much he misses his wife. Isabella meanwhile, realizes that she has the ability to choose her own destiny.
