The Indian Navy decommissioned one of its oldest submarines, the INS Vagli. The ceremony was held on Thursday in the port city of Visakhapatnam.
The 1,800 ton submarine is capable of diving to almost 500 feet and carries a lethal punch of sensors and weapons to attack surface ships and submarines.
Commissioned in 1974, the submarine completed 36 years of service and is probably the oldest submarine of its class in the world and definitely the oldest unit in the Indian Navy.
India now has only 14 operational submarines and is running behind schedule for many submarine projects.
