The drama in Coronation Street reaches its peak in tonight's live show, as two more characters are expected to perish from the tram crash.

Long-term resident Ashley Peacock, played by Steve Arnold, was last seen under a crumbling building and it looks like he has been made the first victim of the disaster, however it seems even the crew do not know who will be written off in tonight's episode.

The fate of characters Rita Sullivan and Molly Dobbs has yet to be played out. They were last seen by viewers trapped under rubble.

Tonight's episode will be Coronation Street's second live broadcast. The first was to mark their 40th anniversary ten years ago.

The cast and crew have filmed the dress rehearsal in case of bad weather and technical difficulties. However, producer Phil Collinson says it is purely as a precaution: "We won't need to do that - we didn't need to do it before', he said.

The live episode starts at 8pm tonight on ITV1.
