Khalen started to ride BMX at the age of four when he happened to accompany his older brothers to the track for a race training session. From that day on, the day he tried it out for himself, he needed just nine years to make it to Australia champion and the world number two. His recipe for success seems to lie in his inspiring daily schedule, which Khalen describes like this: "I get up at around 7 am, turn the jukebox on and listen to some tunes at breakfast. Then, depending what day it is, I either stroll outside to the garage to the gym or go to the BMX track or go for a cross country MTB ride through the mountains or maybe do some sprints or maybe rest and do nothing".
