Kanye West responds to Bush racism row

Rapper Kanye West has spoken in an interview about calling former US president George W. Bush a racist.

Speaking to Matt Lauer on NBC's The Today Show, West refused to use the word "regret" and did not directly apologise for the remark, but admitted he had spoken without having "enough information."

West made the comments about Bush during a live television appeal for victims of Hurricane Katrina, stating: "George Bush doesn't care about black people."

In a separate interview with The Today Show, Bush branded West's comments as "one of the most disgusting moments of my presidency."

West responded by saying: "Me being a rational, well-thought-out, empathetic human being, and thinking about it after the fact, I would have chosen different words."
