The reason that Fedor lost was because this was a tournament and there needed to be a winner and a loser. Because he was unable to continue he was charged with a loss, and his opponent won and moved on to the next round. If this was a regular match, then Fedor would have won due to an illegal strike. It is a pretty goofy way of doing things, and it really should not count as a real loss. The shitty thing is if fedor would have moved on, he would have faced randy couture in the next round.(Tk, his opponent lost to randy in that fight).
