On Tuesday, dozens of Pakistani fishermen were released from Indian prisons and sent back home. they were detained for crossing into Indian waters.
Around 64 Pakistani citizens kissed the soil of their homeland when they were sent home from India on Tuesday.
Many of the released prisoners were fishermen who crossed the territorial waters while fishing in the Arabian Sea.
[Ghulam Hussain, Pakistani Fisherman]:
"I unknowingly cast my fishing net in Indian waters and the Navy officials caught me. They asked me where I came from. I replied Pakistan. They then arrested me and put me in jail.”
Among the released prisoners is a teenager. The Border Security Force arrested him for loitering unlawfully in Indian territory.
[Arshad, Pakistani Fisherman]:
"If innocent children are caught, they should be proved innocent as soon as possible. It is wrong that for 10 months you imprison them, many of such children were my inmates. They were returned after three to four years. It is wrong.”
The fishermen were released after serving time in Indian jails.
