Jake Gyllenhaal says he and Anne Hathaway "just came together in a really special way" in their new film Love and Other Drugs.
The film is based on Jamie Reidy's memoir Hard Sell: The Evolution of a Viagra Salesman and sees the two actors fall for each other under the ultimate drug: love.
Gyllenhaal credits their experience in the industry for their natural connection on screen.
He said: "As a result of us being where we are with our successes and our failures and all the things creatively, we just came together in a really special way, in a very intimate way, that is rare."
Anne and Jake first worked together on the 2005 film Brokeback Mountain and director Edward Zwick believes they are both at the top of their game.
"They are two actors at the height of their power. And their craft is undeniable, and their work before this speaks for itself.
"But what I didn't know is just how they have really come to this moment," he said.
Love and Other Drugs hits UK cinemas on 29 December.
