Indian Villagers Go Blind from Cataract Surgery

8 years ago188 views

More than 25 villagers in India’s Madhya Pradesh state have lost their eyesight from cataract surgery that went wrong.

Authorities have offered about $700 as compensation for their loss of eyesight.

But villagers say it’s not enough.

[Parto Bai, Villager]: (probably male, Hindi)
"What will I do if I cannot see? There is no one to take care of me.”

No legal action has been taken against the Yogiraj Hospital and Research Center so far.
