From the SED/PDS to the Left Party | People & Politics

When East Germany collapsed, the communist party that ruled it also fell apart. Its successor, the PDS, has now been absorbed into the Left Party. Despite its communist past, or perhaps because of it, the Left Party has become a political power to be reckoned with in many parts of Germany.
