Doctors in Sussex told a pregnant woman that her baby was dead and needed to be aborted before realising a week later it was alive and well.

Sophia Taylor was devastated after the results of her three month scan came back saying that her baby had no heartbeat.

Doctors at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals advised her to have a termination but the mother-of-three's instincts told her that wasn't the case and asked for a second scan.

A week later a further scan showed the baby to be alive and well, much to the Taylor family's relief.

The hospital has offered it's sincerest apologies and promised a full investigation.

Sophia Taylor's baby is due next April.
