Tickets for Glastonbury 2011 have sold out in just over four hours.

Passes for Britain's biggest music festival went on sale at 9am on Sunday 3 October and by 1.15pm they had all been snapped up.

Fans flooded the website and phone lines with tickets selling out eight hours faster than last year.

Organiser Emily Eavis wrote on the festival's Twitter page:

"Sorry those of you who waited on the lines but couldn't get tickets. Wish there was a way to fit everyone in."

Then, giving a glimmer of hope to dissapointed fans, added:

"As in previous years, there is likely to be a re-sale of cancelled tickets at some point - probably spring 2011."

Tickets for Glastonbury 2011, cost £195, £10 more than last year.

The line-up of performers is yet to be announced.
