Police in Indonesia busted a bank robbery ring linked to a militant Islamic group in North Sumatra. The bank robberies were carried out by militants to fund their attacks against the government.
Police in North Sumatra say they’ve captured and killed several members of a group of Islamic militants over the weekend… who carried out several armed robberies recently to fund their attacks.

"We successfully arrested several people, members of a terror group network that is causing terror in North Sumatra. In total there are 33 people and we captured 18, including three people who were dead."
Police say the captured militants were linked to several recent armed robberies at banks and a money changer in North Sumatra. Police believe the group planned to purchase more rifles and grenades.

"We found weapons and dynamite, as much as 1.5 kilograms, that was ready for assembly and later use.”
According to the police, the militant group planned to stage a coup against President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and turn Indonesia into a state ruled by Muslim law.
