The Tri-Nations continues . Loftus welcomed the Aussies for their first match against the Springboks in South Africa. It was another special day for the South African fans as the home crowed at Loftus watched Victor Matfield take the field for his 100th Springbok cap. The game started off on a shaky note for the Springboks. The Aussies out run their defense scoring 2 tries in the opening 5 minutes. The Boks hit back with a try in the 8th minute, but it seemed to be O’Conner’s day scoring his 2nd try in the 10th minute. All though it seemed like the Aussies were dominating the game, picking up their bonus point try in the 24th minute and leading at halftime. The Springboks picked themselves up and bounced back placing the Wallabies under pressure. The Boks clinched the win, ending their loosing streak in this tournament. A very special moment for Victor Matfield becoming the first Springbok to win his 100th game. Next week the Springboks will play their last game in this years Tri-Nations in Bloemfontein.
