Police have shot a man who took hostages at the headquarters of the Discovery Channel in suburban Washington.
Officers said they injured the suspect and took him into custody after he held three people prisoner at the building in a suburb of the US capital. All the hostages were freed unharmed.
SWAT teams were sent to the scene after an Asian man entered the building wearing what appeared to be metallic canister devices on his front and back and pulled out a handgun.
Local media reported that police said the man's name was James J Lee. A man named James Lee of San Diego was arrested in February 2008 after throwing money into the air in a protest outside the Discovery building.
