Australian Parliament has First Aboriginal Member

And in Australia, the general election there has produced a first for the country. Ken Wyatt of the Liberal Party is the first Aboriginal member of the Australian Parliament.

However the win has been tarnished with Wyatt receiving hate mail and racist phone calls.

[Ken Wyatt, Liberal Party Member]:
"When it gets down to some very pointed comments that are appearing on some of the sites, then that hurts."

Wyatt was declared the winner in the Perth seat of Hasluck in Western Australia.
