Big Brother 11 winner Josie Gibson has quit the Ultimate Big Brother house after deciding the experience was overwhelming.

The 25-year-old - who won £100,000 on Tuesday - left the compound through a fire exit.

She had repeatedly talked about quitting the show and spent the hours before her departure drinking lager to steady her nerves.

The Bristolian said she felt she did not fit in with her new housemates, because they were all more famous than her and they had nothing in common.

By coincidence, one of the first people she met after walking through the corridors used by cameramen was her love interest John James.

He had returned to the compound used by BB production staff to record a message for her.

He told her: "You're so stupid - I love you so much."

Back inside the house, Brian Dowling alerted the others to Josie's absence when he realised she was missing and the rest of the housemates tried to summon her back, but it was too late.
