Bullet discovered in headache sufferer's head

A man living in Germany was shot in the back of his head - but did not realise until five years later.

The 35-year-old was hit by a .22-calibre bullet as he was out in the street partying on New Year's Eve in the western town of Herne.

"My first thought was as if I had banged my head against something or that I was hurt by a firecracker, a small firework. I did not notice it," said Robert Chojecki.

He didn't seek medical assistance at the time and only went to see a doctor recently when he started getting headaches.

Doctors took an X-ray and found the bullet lodged between his skin and cranial bone.

Police say the projectile may have been a stray bullet fired by a reveller in celebration.
