Arsene Wenger believes Premier League managers have a duty to show solidarity towards under-fire England boss Fabio Capello.

The Italian's position has again been called into question over the way he handled the announcement of his plans to no longer include David Beckham as the squad look towards the 2012 European Championships.

Wenger has been in charge of the Gunners since 1996 and was himself approached about taking over the England team after Kevin Keegan's departure in 2000.

The Frenchman knows Capello well, and believes top-flight coaches should all "stick together".

Wenger said: "I support Capello because at the moment he is a manager who is under pressure from the media. I would just like to give him my support - just like I would to any manager under pressure.

Wenger added: "I have a huge sympathy and respect for David Beckham. I personally think Capello thinks that as well. Capello showed that by integrating Beckham back into the squad when he was left out before he came in."
