A few months from now, somewhere in the first quarter of 2011, a team of 30 students from IIT Bombay’s Powai campus, will stand with bated breath, listening to the countdown at the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Sriharikota Range (SHAR), just before before a PSLV rises to the sky. The launch would be a milestone in India’s roadmap to conquer space because it would also perhaps be the very first time that a student designed and fabricated micro-satellite made in Mumbai, ‘Pratham’, made it to outer space successfully.
