Even though Studd was tired of wrestling Andre we fans could NEVER get enough of it.It was a refreshing new twist to their old feud.Andre is now the bad guy& Studd is the good guy.It was nice to FINALLY see Andre pick on someone his OWN size.Would Studd FINALLY be able to slam him? Would Studd be the next man to pin Andre 1-2-3? Removing Bobby Heenan from Andre's corner & putting in MidCarder Haku was a stroke of genuis.Adding Jim Duggan w his 2x4 in Studd's corner added the suspense of whether Studd was going to finally pin Andre.Studd DID a MASTERFUL job with his promos as always when it came to Andre The Giant! We were tired of seeing Andre lose to Hogan all the time & now that Studd was back and BETTER than he was before it made that feud EVEN MORE exciting in our imaginations.STUDD MAY NOT HAVE LIKED IT BUT WE FANS LOOVED IT.THIS CERTAINLY WAS A VERY,VERY UNDERRATED FEUD.Studd and Andre must be smiling down on Earth knowing that us fans still appreciate their preformance

You've got to remember that the second Royal Rumble was overshadowed by the Mega-Powers storyline. That was the big storyline going into the Royal Rumble. Nobody paid to see Big John Studd win the Royal Rumble. People could have cared less. They paid for the first Royal Rumble to see Hacksaw Jim Duggan, The Hart Foundation, Dino Bravo, The Mega-Powers, Ted Dibiase and Hercules. They paid to see the Royal Rumble off the hype of the Mega-Powers storyline. No one was concerned about Big John Studd winning the Rumble. The only people that wanted to see John Studd win the Rumble was the WWF front office, who were doing Big John Studd a big favor as a thank you for the work Studd did for the WWF during 1984, 1985 and 1986.

True, but winning the Rumble in those days didn't mean a whole lot as it would in later years.

I forgot all about this feud. Big John Studd's 1989 WWF run always manages to slip my memory. It was so short....
