Geothermal Energy | Tomorrow Today

There are few places on the globe where the earth near the surface is as warm as it is in Iceland. That has left the country able to generate at least 20 percent of its electricity with geothermal energy.A scientist from Darmstadt is currently in Iceland trying to find out what geological conditions are best-suited for generating geothermal power. One decisive factor is how well the local bedrock conducts heat. The scientist says gathering this data will make it easier to locate sources of geothermal energy in Germany and elsewhere.
