The department store rolls out its Christmas merchandise earlier than ever.
For organised shoppers that like to beat the holiday rush early a London department store is launching its Christmas shop with onlyâ¦.149 shopping days to go before the big day.
With seasonal music blaring and green, white and red on the shop floor eager buyers can have first dibs on the baubles and tinsel. Selfridges have gotten into the Christmas spirit sooner than most stores in the country, including rival Harrods.
Selfridges Christmas Buyer Geraldine James says the customers are already queueing at the tills: "Customers seem quite surprised at first and then quite happy actually, it has quite a positive affect on people. Christmas is one of those things that make's you smile and groan at the same time."
Geraldine reckons that last years best seller, the Union Jack baubles, will still be the big hit this year with predictions they'll shift around 3,000.
"My grandkids just left London and they saw all these sights so I thought they'd make great presents," said one American tourist.
Another Canadian shopper was of a similar mind set: "I'm looking for some memories to hang on my tree from my time here in Great Britain."
