On Friday, the Srinigar City government imposed a curfew to prevent separatist groups protesting on the streets of the city, which is located in Indian Kashmir.

The Kashmir Valley's main separatist group, the Hurriyat Conference, called for a protest march to the city center.

Traffic and movement have been completely restricted by security officials during the curfew period, halting normal life.

Locals spoke about the difficulties the frequent shutdowns are affecting them.

[Ghulam Ahmad, Local Resident]:
"We are facing a lot of problems. I had a hearing in the High Court today. I don't know if it will happen today or not. We are helpless and things are very difficult for the poor. We are troubled and there is no governance."

Security officials have been deployed in large numbers across the city.

The situation in the valley has been tense over the past months due to repeated clashes between the anti-India protestors and security forces.
