Dwain Chambers versus Christophe Lemâitre could prove the single most exhilarating event of the European Championships in Barcelona.
On Tuesday night, the two combatants breezed into the semi-finals of the 100m in a fashion which suggest these two will be slugging it out for gold come Wednesday evening.
First, Chambers, won his heat whilst easing up in 10.21sec; then the 'young Master', went quicker still in 10.19sec.
It could be as close as their only other meeting, in Bergen at last month's European Team Championships, when Chambers clocked 9.99sec and prevailed by three-hundredths of a second.
Most of the attention was focussed on the 20-year-old Lemaitre, who was the first white man to break the 10sec barrier in the 100m three weeks ago.
If both men navigate their semi-finals then they will line-up for glory in the final at 2145 BST on Wednesday.
