The US actor sent fans into a frenzy as he signed autographs and took pictures at the premiere of Inception. A couple of youngsters who met the heartthrob were even reduced to tears.

Explaining what he made of the reception, DiCaprio said: "It's great. It's great to show this movie to the world especially here in London."

Inception is a mind bending thriller from writer and director Christopher Nolan. It follows a group who steal top secret information from people's dreams.

"We really worked hard on it, six different locations around the world, a lot of thought has gone into it. I think it lives up to the hype," said DiCaprio, 35.

He stars alongside Sir Michael Caine, Marion Cotillard, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Ken Watanabe and Ellen Page, who admitted she had a crush on DiCaprio while growing up.

"I may have had a picture at one point in my locker, but do not tell him," she said.
