McLaren pair set for British Grand Prix

The next round of the Formula One Championship cannot come soon enough for the McLaren duo of Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button.

Silverstone hosts the British Grand Prix on Sunday with Hamilton and Button occupying the top two spots in the driver's standings ahead of the year's 10th race.

Although Hamilton and Button finished second and third in the previous race at Valencia, Red Bull showed they still had a clear speed advantage with Germany's Sebastian Vettel winning that race to move up to third overall.

Championship-leading McLaren have made adjustments to their car for Silverstone with Button telling reporters they needed it to stay out in front.

"We do need to raise our game," he said. "We do need to add performance to the car if we want to challenge the Red Bulls and a couple of other teams.

While Hamilton has tasted success at the British Grand Prix, it is not a feeling Button has experienced in nearly a decade of racing. Naturally, he expressed an eagerness to end that drought.

"This one's very special for us," Button said.

"It's a Grand Prix that I've never been on the podium at so it's something I'm really excited about, getting out there in front of the home crowd."

Hamilton added his triumph in the rain at Silverstone in 2008 rivalled the best feeling of his career.

"The feeling of winning the British Grand Prix, your home Grand Prix, is unique, a very special feeling," he described with a smile on his face.

"It's almost as good as winning the world championship. It's that kind of greatness.
