Acroni, a Slovenian flat steel producer decided to modernize their 20 year old slab caster. The challenge was it to replace the machines within 38 days. The replacement of the strang guide system was included furthermore new Equipment and systems had to be integrated with re- usable parts of the caster. Arconi has now the capability to cast more than 500.000 tons of steel per year with its steel production plant.
