This documentary is about the spirit of the East End of London. We are taking you on a historical and cultural trip through the East of London to find out what gives the area its unique spirit...From the Romans and the Huguenots, to the Jewish, Indian, Pakistani and Bengali community. It looks at the extinction of the old East End community oppressed by the student invasion and the multiplication of bars and clubs - the fall of the old fashion markets being one of the most significant outcomes of this. The film also takes a look at the dark side of the area, from Jack the Ripper to the Kray brothers who ruled the area around the 60's and were the most significant leaders of organised crime in London.
