Remains of body in river to be identified

Police are expected to identify a woman whose remains were found in a river as detectives continue to question a 40-year-old man on suspicion of murdering three prostitutes.

The man was arrested on suspicion of the murders of missing Bradford sex workers Suzanne Blamires, Shelley Armitage and Susan Rushworth, West Yorkshire Police said.

The remains of the woman were discovered by a member of the public in the River Aire, in Shipley, West Yorkshire, at about 2pm on Tuesday.

A post mortem is scheduled to be carried out on the remains and the woman's identity released by West Yorkshire Police.

Ms Blamires, 36, went missing on Friday, while Ms Armitage, 31, has been missing since Monday April 26. Ms Rushworth, 43, has been missing since Monday June 22 last year.

Police have been granted extra time, until Thursday evening, to question the 40-year-old man, who was arrested on Monday.
