David Furnish has spoken out about his disappointment after he and Sir Elton John failed in their bid to adopt a child from the Ukraine.

The partner of Sir Elton was speaking at the Caudwell Children Butterfly Ball where he described his disappointment and heartbreak after a failed adoption process.

When questioned about whether gay couples face too many hurdles when trying to adopt David said: "We need to recognise that we live in a diverse world now, and a balanced, healthy and stable home can come from different places. And I think adoption laws tend to be a bit strict."

He went on to say adoption had not been ruled out in the future: "We are keeping our options open, but there are no plans at the moment....We are just checking in to different options."

David was supporting Sir Elton who performed at the 10th anniversary of the Butterfly Ball held at Battersea Park.
