Rafa Benitez has downplayed the effect of the team's 2000 kilometre trip to Spain, and is instead choosing to focus on Liverpool's clash against Atletico Madrid.
After their mammoth journey across Europe, the Liverpool players got the chance to stretch their legs as they took to the Vicente Calderon pitch in a training session ahead of their Europa League last four tie.
The manager said: "What they were doing, a lot of them, they were thinking with their eyes closed. For a while at least, really important in the end. I think that they will be ok, so we will see in the training session and after. I think that they will be fine."
But while there was a big focus on the difficulties that the team had in reaching the Spanish capital questions were also raised on another issue that surrounds Benitez, his future at Anfield. However, the Spanish manager sidestepped questions from both the British and foreign media, preferring to focus on the semi-final.
He said: "Every year is the same and every season is the same, so I have to concentrate just on the game tomorrow".
