South African police have seized a huge amount of fake merchandise ahead of this summer's World Cup.

Over £2.5 million worth of South Africa shirts were seized in Johannesburg. one from Swaziland was arrested.

The 2010 World Cup host nation has seen an increase in the amount of fake goods coming into the country in the past months.

South African police spokesman, Colonel Vish Naidoo said most of the goods originate from China.

"We have seized other consignments of counterfiet goods including Bafana Bafana shirts but not of this magnitude.

"It certainly does affect the economy, it does affect the industry."
