Susan Boyle has become a multi-millionairess on her birthday by receiving a £4 million royalty cheque.

Subo, who became an overnight sensation after appearing on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent last year, celebrates turning 49 today.

The singer also recieves a financial boost with royalties from her worldwide appearances and sales of her chart-topping debut album, I Dreamed A Dream which went platinum in six countries.

The singer's first release broke the British charts’ record for the fastest-selling debut album in history, with 3.1 million bought in its first month. Elsewhere she has sold more than 8.5 million copies.

Simon Cowell's record label SyCo Music promised the Scot her first instalment would come in time for her birthday.

One of Susan’s new investments is likely to be a luxury property with tight security near her home town of Blackburn, West Lothian.
