Stereophonics Interview

Best On-Screen, Luke Franks, (interviewer nearest the camera): Although not really aware of it until I got to university, presenting was something that I loved to do and I was keen to take advantage of the opportunities that Cardiff Student Media gave. In my first year, I managed to secure a prime time slot on the university's student radio (Xpress Radio), co-hosting the show with a friend.

At the time, the radio station and newly born TV station (CUTV) were going through a difficult period, struggling to maintain a solid audience and have a strong influence within the university. In an attempt to get more people listening to our show and to gain more presenting experience, my co-host and I sent out numerous emails to artists passing through Cardiff.

This culminated in securing an interview with Stereophonics at Cardiff International Arena which lead to a follow-up interview at Cardiff Castle the next year.

For me, being in Cardiff and interviewing one of the most successful Welsh bands of all time in the most historic venue in the city was a real privilege and realisation of what could be achieved by simply asking. Here, we catch up with them as they promote their latest album 'Keep Calm and Carry On'.
