Johnny Depp got pulses racing in Japan in his latest promotion for new 3D movie Alice in Wonderland.

Depp announced at a news conference that his role as Mad Hatter was one of many more original character roles to come.

"I haven't so far been in danger of repeating myself, at least I don't think so. They all feel quite different. I mean, there's so many possibilities out there. I just love watching people, stealing bits of their behavioral patterns."

The actor along with director Tim Burton landed at Japan's Narita international airport where over a thousand people were ready to greet Depp as he arrived.

When asked about how we felt people would respond to his latest role, Depp emphasized that an actors biggest duty is to entertain viewers.

"One of your great responsibilities not only to the director, yourself, or the film but one of your great responsibilities is to try to do something different each time for the audience. Your great responsibility is to not bore your audience."

Burton's "Alice" is the latest in a wave of 3D movies such as "Avatar" and stars Depp as the Mad Hatter, Australian actress Mia Wasikowska plays Alice with Burton's girlfriend, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway rounding out the headliners as the Red Queen and White Queen, respectively.
