The new Polonaise for piano, by published composer Webster Young, was made into a ballet by Eric Hyrst, formerly of the Royal Ballet and New York City Ballet. Hyrst was himself a pianist -- as was George Balanchine, for whom he danced in the 1950's. In this video, the composer, Webster Young, explains how the ballet came about, as he plays, and an excerpt of the ballet is shown. The piano recording is available at CDBaby.com under Webster Young, and the piano sheet music is available at Musicnotes.com, also under his name. A documentary film on the Hyrst-Young ballets, called "Two for Ballet" was on PBS -- and the DVD is available at the Documentary Channel's online video store. (Copyright)
