Let's say I buy a movie. My mom borrows it, is she a pirate because she did not pay to see it? I guess not. Not let's say she lives in another town and can't come to pick it up. I upload it, she downloads it and sees it. Why suddenly she is a pirate?
I have bought more movies since filesharing started than I did before simply because a bought movie now days is cheap enough that DL a movie isn't worth the time, virii and crappy quality you usually get. Most people use TPB to get things they just can't get otherwise or a torrent makes more sense for varied reasons. The fact the raid made TPB even more popular could have been predicted by anyone with half a brain.
Here is how THB works, they do not have any files to share, they simply store locations and addresses of people who own media they wish to share. In Sweden, it is not against the law to do this. In fact, it isn't illegal in the US due to Safe Harbor laws but what is legal and what big money wants are two different things and big money usually wins.
fascinating how everyone believes they have a 'right' to professional entertainment content for free (even though it costs millions of dollars and countless hours and toil to produce that content). perhaps we should raid Ikea and Saab dealerships for our 'right' to free furniture and cars. what? the swedes are just in it 'for the profit' anyway (which, of course, is 'evil' by the logic of pirate bay). by the way, i wonder how much pirate bay makes off of banner ads? they never mentioned that in their little documentary...
