We are living in an era where consumer electronics are the dominant form of work and entertainment. When it comes to entertainment, this is especially so. The music industry for instance has undergone a renaissance of sorts. Vinyl records had a relatively good sound quality, but they were later replaced by the compact disc which took the world by storm. Discs were subject to rapid wear and tear which was the same problem associated with vinyl records. Today, there is a transition to digital music in the form of WAV, MP3, MP4 and more. There is no need for CDs since music can now be directly downloaded from the Internet and transferred to portable players such as Ipods or Zunes.
