The aerial pictures tell the story — as heavy rains in Spain have submerged large parts of the Andalusia province in the southern part of the country.

In Cordoba, the Guadalquivir River burst its banks and is on the brink of overflowing. The heavy rains have also cut off dozens of roads, rail and air access to several cities.

So far, at least 1,500 people have evacuated from their homes.

[Jose Antonio, Resident]:
"It's incalculable, right now incalculable. I can't. In my house, I have lost everything."

The bad weather had already killed a British couple — according to Spanish broadcaster TVE — when the roof of the rural house they were staying in collapsed.

Rain stopped overnight, but the national meteorological agency is forecasting more rain for the next few days.
