Indian Officer Shot During a Mock Drill official
A police inspector from an anti-terror squad was accidentally shot and wounded during a mock drill in India's Surat City yesterday.
The officer was posing as a terrorist.
He was not wearing any bulletproof jacket and was dressed in plainclothes.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital, where a team of doctors operated on him.
[Girish Bhatt, Doctor]:
“No major abdominal organs have been damaged and the surgery right now is successful and he is out of danger right now and he is in the ICU."
The police commissioner of Surat says the matter is being investigated.
[Shivnanda Jha, Police Commissioner, Surat]:
"This is a matter of investigation and I do not want to comment right now."
Live ammunitions are never used in a mock drill, and the officer opened fire unaware that his weapon was loaded.
