The Virginia Department of Business Assistance is the Commonwealth's economic development agency for entrepreneurs, existing businesses, financing programs, and workforce incentives. Throughout its brief history, VDBA has taken pride in providing exceptional customer service and adapting to the changing needs of business. The agency has won numerous awards, particularly for training films produced by the VJIP team. VDBA’s website is ranked number one by Google in most business search categories. The entrepreneur training programs VDBA has developed have garnered national recognition for their breadth, scope, and effectiveness. Sandy Ratliff has over 20 years of marketing experience. As the Business Services Manager for the Virginia Department of Business Assistance (VDBA) in the agency’s Abingdon office which serves 22 localities in Southwest Virginia, she works with new and expanding businesses to offer startup consulting, community support services, finance counseling and business information assistance. Her primary focus is entrepreneurship development. She has lead the creation of several programs including the Enterprise Fair, Entrepreneur Express workshops, and Small Business Fundamentals Workshop series linking start-ups and existing businesses with resources needed for growth. The Entrepreneur Express program has been expanded statewide and has reached over 3,000 Virginian's since it's launch in October 2006. Today it is Virginia's signature outreach program.
