Britain: No More Soldiers For Afghanistan | European Journal

The small town of Wootton Bassett has become the focal point of Britain's mourning for its soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Whatever the weather, residents form a guard of honor as hearses containing the soldiers' bodies pass through from Royal Air Force station Lyneham. For the British government, this ritual, which is being performed with increasing frequency,is a source of discomfort. It has unsettled relatives of the approximately 9000 British troops stationed in Afghanistan. With the death toll there having surpassed 200,many Britons are questioning what their troops are doing in Afghanistan.
