The president of Iceland and his wife have just arrived in India's capital. President Grímsson is seeking more cooperation with India in areas of clean energy, geothermal and oil exploration.
The president of Iceland and his wife are on an official visit to India. India’s president and prime minister welcomed the couple in New Delhi with the guard of honor.
President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson is seeking cooperation with India in the field of clean energy, geothermal, IT and oil exploration.
[Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of Iceland]:
"I am hoping to strengthen cooperation with India, especially in the area of clean energy, geothermal, information technology and, perhaps, also explain the potential for oil exploration in the northeast Atlantic, between Iceland and Norway, and also to establish close cooperation between our glaciologist and soil science people, bringing some of the result and the experience of studying the glaciers in the deserts of Iceland to emphasis on the Himalayan region.”
The President and his entourage will also travel to Bangalore, India's IT city.
