During a visit to India, in New Delhi, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reiterated on Wednesday that her country will not allow militants to operate from their soil and that agreements signed should lead to cooperation in combating terror.

    [Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Prime Minister]:
"I clearly declared, as you know, that Bangladesh will not allow anybody to use the soil of Bangladesh to launch any kind of terrorist activities or any other pursuits, because we declared it so definitely we should cooperate with each other, so that if there is anyone from Bangladesh, India should look into it and so Bangladesh will also do the same."

India and Bangladesh signed three pacts on Monday on fighting terror, organized crime, drug trafficking and power sharing.

    [Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh Prime Minister]:
"I feel that this agreement is enough to work together. If you see that there is any obstacle or any problem, then we can discuss it again.”

Relations between India and Bangladesh have dipped over the past decade with a rise in influence of the military and Islamist groups.

Indian officials said they hoped the Hasina government would do more in keeping a close watch over Islamist groups and India’s northeast insurgents that operate from Bangladesh to launch attacks on India.

Hasina, on her maiden visit to India after returning to power last year, will return to Bangladesh on Wednesday.
