Rugby 101 - Knock on The ball is said to have been “knocked on” if a player loses possession over the ball and it goes forward. A knock on also occurs when the ball travels forward after hitting a players arm or hand and then touches the ground or another player before the original player regains control over it. An exception for a knock on is if a player knocks the ball forward in attempting to block a kick by an opponent, it is not knocked on and play will continue. All though a deliberate forward pass or a pass directly into touch, will land a player in a bit of trouble... The player will be punished by a penalty kick been awarded to the opposing team.
